Wii U – Details Slowly Dribbling Out

The Wii U gaming console made a good impression in the last E3, but can it live up to the hype?

The recent reports about the Wii U specs have created confusion among gamers. According to different sources, Wii U has twice the power and capacity of PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, but Nintendo is completely silent about it, apparently uninterested in revealing the specs of their upcoming product.

Now it has been confirmed that Wii U will have a multi-core CPU, though nothing much is revealed about the technology inside it.  Details of the video capability are also coming out. The Wii U is loaded with a Radeon 4th generation chip, which might be called capable… but not a cutting edge tech, compared to other consoles from the competitors.

Though it is the most powerful console from Nintendo so far, the Wii U’s specs are not up to the expectation of many gamers. A concern is the rumor that the touchscreen controller can only be used by one player at a time. This rumor originates with the demos, which showed different multiplayer games played with one touch screen controller and 4 regular Wii controllers.

The hardware specs won’t necessarily be a deciding factor for Wii U’s more casual gamer base. But if they want to lure hard core gamers as well, details will have to be spilled.
