TV’s ‘Cash Cab’ Hits And Kills A Vancouver Pedestrian

A 61-year-old man from Surrey, British Columbia was struck and killed by the hit TV show’s “Cash Cab” taxi. He died in the hospital shortly after.

The accident occurred after filming for the day had been completed. The producer of “Cash Cab” was driving the replica taxi back to the storage faculty when he struck the 61-year-old Friday night.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family.” said Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., which produces the Canadian version of “Cash Cab.” “My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team.”

The hit TV show features unsuspecting passengers who hail the “Cash Cab,” being quizzed during the ride to their destination for a chance to win money.

The U.S. version of “Cash Cab,” is now filmed in New York and Chicago, which has been broadcasted on the Discovery Channel since 2005.

No charges have currently been filed, but the incident now remains under investigation, Vancouver police report.
