Toro Recalls 3700 Riding Lawn Mowers In US, 109 In Canada

The Toro Company, a Bloomington, Minnesota based manufacturer of home and commercial lawn mowers, golf and grounds equipment, and irrigation systems, has announced a recall of Toro Z Master ZRT Mowers.

The recall affects approximately 3700 of the riding lawn mowers in the US, and another 109 in Canada.

According to the recall announcement, the Toro Z Master ZRT Mowers with the optional deluxe seat “have an operator presence switch built into the seat that may activate the mower when the operator vacates the seat.” The activation of the mower poses a risk of injury, from the blade, to the mower’s operator and anyone nearby.

Toro said they have received one report, concerning a foot laceration, related to the recalled mower.

The recalled models are the commercial duty ZRT mowers, with a 52 to 72 inch cutting deck. The seats are light grey and have an adjustment knob at the bottom, front side, of the seat. They were sold through US and Canadian Toro dealers from September 2005 through January 2011. The affected mowers ranged in price $13,000 to $17,000.

The model/serial numbers are:
