Now, let’s get right into the best performances of the night.
Team Usher’s Josh Kaufman performs “This Is It” by Kenny Loggins
Every time Josh hits The Voice stage he exudes soul and tonight was no exception. His cover of Kenny Loggins’ “This Is It” showcased his sultry tone and dynamic vocal ability.
Shakira says, “I think soulful renditions is your sweet spot. You sing with so much sincerity. Your ability to sing with falsettos and full voice is really impressive.”
Adam says that Josh is so talented and has such a unique and powerful voice. He commends Josh for having a tone that no one else has.
Blake says that the precision and vocal acrobatics of Josh’s voice sounds like a record. He says the notes Josh hits and the things he does with his voice would personally take Blake weeks to accomplish in the studio.
Usher says, “I was blown away. Your voice is unique and your ability to be accurate and the way you execute the notes of that song is not easy. It was an incredible performance and I look forward to seeing you here longer.”
Team Adam’s Christina Grimmie “Hold On We’re Going Home” by Drake
Ok, WOW. This was easily one of the best performances we have ever heard on the history of The Voice. Christina’s acoustic version of Drake’s “Hold on We’re Going Home” really showcased her artistic talent. She did an amazing job of making the song her own as she so stunningly colored the song with her dynamically engaging vocals.
We absolutely adored her unique twist in the arrangement of the song and her distinctly fresh interpretation of it.
Adam gives Christina a standing ovation.
Blake says that this was the moment where Christina went from being a singer to an artist. He continues to say, “That sounded like your song. It was unbelievable.”
Usher says that not only will Christina make Drake proud, but also earned a spot on the finals.
Shakira says, “This was your best performance by far. Your personality cuts through and there’s so much of it. Your voice is so dynamic and it shows us another facet of your artistry. That was insane what you just did.”
Adam commends Christina for fearlessly doing something that was completely her own idea. He states, “Christina’s passion for this song and doing it this way was 100% her way and this was a moment that gave me the goose bumps. There is no ceiling for how proud of you I am.”
