It’s Night 4 of NBC’s Season 5 of The Voice Blind Auditions as the search for the best talent continues.
The blind auditions are more than half way complete so the competition is more intense than ever!
The question is who impressed us on tonight’s episode and who shined bright like a diamond?!
Well, let’s recap our favorite performances!
Will Champlin performs Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You”
Ok, Wow! Adam is right about this guy, he totally reminds us of the male version of Season 4’s Michelle Chamuel.
Champlin’s performance of Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You” was quite flawless. All we could think during his performance was how great of a recording voice this dude has.
The pop rock singer gave a pitch perfect vocal and hit some crazy notes by the time he reached the middle of the song.
Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee lo Green turned their chairs for Champlin.
Adam said, “You have a really incredible voice. I can’t think of one thing that wasn’t spectacular about that performance. I would love to help you out, you are a real talented guy.”
Blake proclaims, “I love you. I tell you what, that was just some powerful singing with great passion. You sing your ass off that’s probably why you’re wear suspenders. I think you and I can win this together.”
In the end, Champlin chose Team Adam!
Stephanie Anne Johnson performs KT Tunstall’s “Black Horse And A Cherry Tree”
This cruise ship lounge singer, who studied classical voice and opera, impressed us with her wonderful interpretation of KT Tunstall’s “Black Horse And A Cherry Tree.” Not only was her vocal beyond superb, but she really did an excellent job incorporating the attitude and spunk needed to successfully deliver this song.
Adam said, “You could feel the attitude. It slapped us in the face. He even later on told his fellow coaches “This girl is gonna surprise everybody I’m telling you that right now.”
Cee Lo remarked “I heard soul and conviction. It’s like you took us to church. I kinda saw Season 1’s Vicci Martinez in you.”
Christina said, “I was taken by the energy, it just moved me. You brought us alive, You woke us up.”
Stephanie ended up choosing to join Team Christina!
Sam Cerniglia performs “It’s a Beautiful Day”
Although a bit shaky in the beginning, this Midwestern artist picked himself up midway through the song, stunning us with his modern day crooner type quality voice.
Blake declared, “I love your sound. You have a lot of range. You are a complete vocalist. I love your style. In fact, I’m jealous of it. It took me to a Michael Buble concert.”
Cee Lo stated: “Your style is very mature. You sounded like the perfect gentleman. You sounded sophisticated. He further proclaimed, “ This is a lady’s man, this is a swinger. We should hang out!” Haha, Oh Cee Lo, you crack us up!
Ultimately though, Cerniglia chose Team Blake!
James Irwin performs R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion”
Irwin was on the last season of The Voice, but didn’t get any chairs turns. However, this time he came back with something to prove and then some!
This soulful rocker sang with such passion and emotion. He ultimately got a four chair turn around! Not surprising, as he really succeeded in infusing a unique twist to R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion.”
He even received a standing ovation by Christina!
Blake stated: “Whatever you did from the span of your last audition till now was great. You are ready for this thing now, you are ready to win this thing now!”
Adam said,”Congratulations, I think this is the first time ever someone has come back after not making it and got a four chair turn around. I was so drawn in immediately, you started off super strong and it faded a bit.” There were some problems that needed to be fixed.” Overall though, Adam seemed eager to work with the artist.
Christina disagreed saying, “From go, you had a very soft opening. You captivated and intrigued us. You seem so versatile, it sounds like you could almost do anything.”
Cee Lo said, “It’s a grand stand for you to do such a great rendition of the song, I was moved by it.”
In the end, Irwin chose Team Adam!
Olivia Henken performs Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs.”
This country singer did a great job of covering Carrie Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs.” She displayed a tremendously powerful range!
Christina immediately turned around and Cee Lo turned around almost close to the end of her last note!
Christina stated: “I’m glad I pushed my button first. You have to be on my team. I was struck by your voice. I was totally connected with your voice. I felt the power.”
Cee Lo promised to challenge Henken, saying, “I will however not let you be complacent in just country.”
In the end, Olivia chose Team Christina!
R. Anthony performs The Script’s “Hall of Fame”
This soulful singer really succeeded in showcasing his versatile range as he infused the song with spectacular runs. He really had just an amazingly incredible high register as he closed the song with an epically masterful ending.
Christina was the first to turn around and Cee Lo turned around at the last second!
Cee Lo stated: “I waited till the last second because I wanted to experience it. It felt really good to me.”
Christina said, “I believed in you. I really listened to you. I love soul and runs and someone who can do them really well, I love it. I really want you on my team!”
Ultimately, Anthony chose Team Cee Lo!
Ashley DuBose performs Rihanna’s “Diamonds”
This artist got us super excited about Season 5 of the Voice! She really did shine bright like a diamond! We absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED her stunningly beautiful voice!
Her delivery was absolutely superb. Dare we say we preferred her version to the original?
She gave us the chills and then some! She genuinely is a truly refreshing artist who we already can see will do great things in the future.
DuBose got a 4 chair turn around and rightfully so!
She got Cee Lo fist pumping and Christina swaying in her chair.
Adam said, “Your voice cuts like a razor through this entire place. Those are the voices that make it all the way through the show. Your voice overtook the room, that’s why we turned around. I think you definitely could win.”
Cee Lo said that he believed she did Rihanna justice, but then even expanded upon it. He continued, “My particular coaching style is not about you being apart of my team, but apart of my life. I will be rooting for you front row at the Grammys.”
Christina remarked, “Rihanna’s songs are challenging to do, I was waiting for something to happen and nothing went wrong. So I thought, Omgosh I’m stupid if I don’t press my button.”
Blake stated: “I might be an unlikely choice, but people have asked me about winning The Voice and it’s a partnership. It’s about making somebody the best that they can be.”
In the end, DuBose Chose Team Adam!
