Following the explosive drama that happened in last week’s episode of the Bachelorrette, Desiree and the 13 remaining bachelors head out to Atlantic City for a fun time.
27 year old Brad McKenzie gets the first one on one date. They spend the day at the boardwalk, riding roller coasters, eating taffy, winning prizes and being goofy. The men back at the hotel don’t think the date will go well because Brad is very quiet and the only thing he talks about is his son.
They’re clearly wrong as they see Des and Brad on the boardwalk having loads of fun . “This is a disaster”-one of the men remarks as he’s looking out through the hotel window. They head out to dinner and then the serious questions begin.
Des wants to know what type of woman he’s looking for and Brad says “nothing specific”. Way to go Brad! As if that’s not enough to kill the mood, Brad can barely form a sentence during the entire dinner. “um, uh…like.” Desiree does not see a connection and sends a tearful Brad home.
It’s time for the group dates and Desiree takes 11 men to compete in the Bachelorette’s edition of the Mr America pageant. Federal Prosecutor Michael G couldn’t be more excited since becoming Mr America has been a childhood dream of his. With the help of former Miss America (Mallory Hagan) and world famous pageant coach Mr Christopher Dean, the men show off their inner talent, or lack thereof, in front of a live Atlantic City Audience.
Brooks finishes in 3rd, Zak W. in 2nd and Kasey is crowned Mr America for his tap dancing number. The competition continues back at the hotel as the men spend some more time trying to connect with Desiree. Ben has been notorious this season for stealing time away from others during their one on one time with Desiree. The men are curious to know what he talked about with Des, but Ben brushes them off. Zak W. plays his guitar and Des gives him the rose.
James Case gets the final one on one date for the week. They visit an area that was affected by Hurricane Sandy and spend the afternoon with a couple that was affected by the hurricane. Des and James are touched by their story and decide to give up their lavish date to the wonderful couple. They head out to grab dinner at a fast food restaurant where James admits to cheating on his ex-girlfriend. Desiree appreciates his honesty and gives him a rose.
Back at the Bachelorette mansion more drama unfolds as Bryden reveals to the guys that this process may not be working for him. There may be more to this, but we’ll have to wait until next week’s episode. It’s the rose ceremony, Zack Kalter is eliminated, 11 guys remain.
Next week Des and the guys fly out to Germany. In the previews someone possibly quits the show and there may be another guy with a girlfriend at home.
