Tablet Wars: 128GB iPad 4 Launch Follows Surface Pro, $200 Less

Following the rumors of a higher-capacity iPad during last couple of days, Apple has confirmed this morning through a press release that a new model of iPad 4 will be available on February 5th, with a whooping capacity of 128 GB.

The capacity is twice of the current high capacity iPad 4, which stands at 64 GB. The Wi-Fi 128 GB version will be available for $799, while the cellular version will cost $929.

The tablet would be available through retail outlets, resellers and Apple’s online stores.

Two colors will be available for selection; black or white.

Phillip Schiller, Cupertino’s senior VP of worldwide marketing, states the sale of 120 million iPad units clearly shows that people love using their iPads for learning, playing and work, and with the high storage capacity and a choice of over 30,000 native iPad apps, everyone has more reasons to prefer iPads over PCs for their business and personal needs.

The 128 GB iPad 4 comes with similar features as offered by other models. It has an A6X processor, FaceTime HD camera and a 9-7 inch Retina Display.

February 5th comes 4 days before the launch of Microsoft’s Surface Pro. The Surface Pro tablet will start at $899 for the 64 GB variant. There’s also going to be a 128 GB model, comparable in storage to this new iPad 4, which will cost $999

Looks like iPad 4 and Microsoft Surface Pro will be going head to head in February. Which one would you pick?
