Syfy’s 12 Disasters of Christmas To Bring 2012 Prophecies To Life

Syfy is mixing holiday cheer with doomsday prophecies in their original movie 12 Disasters of Christmas, premiering December 8, 2012 at 9pm ET/PT.

In the film, the end of the Mayan calendar really does predict the end of the world, and it’s also somehow connected to the classic holiday jingle, “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

As multiple, world-ending disasters strike a small town and slowly encompass the world, Joseph (Eureka’s Ed Quinn) learns that his daughter, Jacey (Caprica‘s Magda Aponowicz), is the prophetic “Chosen One” that can stop the end of days.

The problem? Their small town community blames Jacey for all the destruction and are out for her blood. Joseph has to get Jacey past the town’s people so she can save the world.

With the Christian puns on character names, like Joseph being the father of Jacey (sounds like J.C., or Jesus Christ), it’s probably not too far of a stretch to guess that IMDb’s cast listing of Holly Elissa as “Mary” means she’ll be playing Jacey’s mother.

An earlier release from the film’s production company, CinaTel Films, gives the film this one liner –

“Its Christmas Eve when an ominous dark star appears in the sky; could this star be a sign that judgement day is near?”

Sites like Dread Central say that “ominous dark star” is the Star of Bethlehem. Unless the plot for the film changed during production, it looks like 12 Disasters of Christmas will be mashing up the Mayan 2012 prophecies with a take on the Bible’s own Armageddon predictions.
