Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Launch Pushed Back

Samsung announced today that they will be pushing back the launch of their 7 inch and 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab 2 tablets.

The electronics company said both they and Google needed more time to work on the tablet’s operating system, Android 4.0, aka:. Ice Cream Sandwich. Android 4.0 was rolled out by Google in October of last year. A number of existing tablets have already received upgrades to Android 4.0, and a number of new products have been launched Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-2with the new OS already this year. So it’s a bit surprising that Samsung has had to delay this launch for this purpose.

We were expecting to se the new launch in March, Samsung now says they will be launched in late April. These will be the first Samsung products launched with Android 4.0.

Both the 7 inch and 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab 2s feature 1 GHz dual core processors with 1 GB of RAM. They have 8, 16, and 32 GB of storage options, two cameras (a VGA and a 3 megapixel), and will be available in Wi-Fi and 3G versions.

Samsung has not announced a price for these tablets, but they are expected to be on the low end of the scale. Though there are already some low-cost 7 inch Android tablets available, it will be nice to see more competition in the 10 inch range.
