So, here’s my most recent splurge purchase. I know, I know.. it’s expensive. Believe me. This is coming from the girl that has been using her $25.00 Walmart straightener for 5+ years and used a Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen children’s blowdryer that had open wires coming out of the tip of it due to the fact that it was so old because I didn’t want to go out and buy a new one. Yes, really, my mom had to get me one for Christmas because I refused.
Anyway, my point is that this purchase was a really big deal for me.
However, my beloved Walmart straightener decided to give up on me last week (R.I.P.) so I was desperate for something to take its place.
For those of you who don’t know the prices of these GHD straighteners.. they’re up there. I spent about $185.00 on this tool. My wallet is already crying.
Excluding the aspect of the price, I have to say that this straightener is definitely a thumbs up.
The first thing that I noticed about it was the speed in which it heats up. From the time you click the button to the time that it beeps at full heat (yes, beeps!), you’ve only waited about 20 seconds. That’s amazing for those of us who sleep through their alarms (3 times) and have to rush out the door to class every morning.
The plates are nice and thin as well (granted, you can get any size plates with any brand, but go with me here) allowing you to get to your bangs or those obnoxious undersides of your hair to get each piece perfectly straight.
That being said, I’m not sure how worth it this straightener is considering the price.
As many great things as could be said about this tool, $185.00 is a LOT of friggin’ money. The jury is still out on whether or not it was worth it.
