Rafael Nadal Bows Out Of Queens, Loses To Tsonga

Rafael Nadal failed to continue his winning momentum as he went down to French fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Queen’s tournament. Tsonga won in three sets, 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 6-1 to enter the semi-finals.

Having already announced that he was exhausted after having claimed the sixth French Open only last week, Nadal struggled to contain Tsonga. He was a break down early in the game and despite recovering to win the first set, it was evident that he was not in the best of form.

Nadal, who had won the Wimbledon last year, will be unhappy with the lack of preparation to defend his title. After the match, Naal said that the focus was lost after he lost the second set and blamed the fatigue due to the successive matches for his loss.

An excited Tsonga said that he had broken into the top 100 at this event and added another feather in his cap by overpowering the world number one.

Nadal had entered the quarter-finals by overcoming Radek Stepanek in another three-setter and his game had looked a tad below par even then.

Tsonga will now play James Ward in the semi-final while the other match will see Andy Murray take on Andy Roddick.
