Panera, the restaurant chain that prides itself for serving healthy food options, is making their food even healthier by publicly announcing a list of “No-No” foods it will remove or have removed by the end of 2016.
As of today consumers can see the full “No-No” list on the chain’s website, which includes everything from BHT to maltodextrin and sulfur dioxide; Panera will be the first national restaurant chain to make such information available.
Ina addition, starting Wednesday Panera will begin serving only “clean” salad dressings that are made without artificial sweeteners,preservatives, artificial colors or flavors.
Other salad add-on’s, including croutons, tortilla strips, pepperoncini and bacon will also be made compliant with their “No-No” list by the end of 2016.
Panera has long been known for offering high-quality, reasonably priced food and has built it’s reputation on keeping such high standards, so this move can only enhance their already stellar brand.
Company CEO Ron Shaich, said in an interview that: “This is like our own ‘Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval’ that says: This is a transparent list of ingredients you won’t find at Panera.”
He then went on to say that: “This is really hard when you have 465 different ingredients. But I want to serve food that’s clean…I want to serve food that I feel good about my daughters eating.”
