Notre Dame Vs USF: Lightening Causes Evacuation {Video}, Game Delayed

Today, the Notre Dame vs. USF football game was postponed during halftime of the season’s opening game after there were several very close lightning strikes in the immediate area. The 81,000 capacity stadium was evacuated as a precaution.

“Right now we are in an indefinite weather delay,” Notre Dame spokesman Dennis Brown said. “We evacuated the stadium at about 5:12 p.m., right at halftime.”

“It’s still looking bad out here, so we’ll see what happens,” South Bend Police Captain Phil Trent stated. “Not northern Indiana football weather at all.”

South Florida was leading Notre Dame 16-0 at halftime. No decision yet has been made regarding as to when the game will resume.

In the video clip below, lightning can be seen striking just outside of the stadium.
