New & Returning CBS TV Shows – Lineup, Overview, Start Dates & Times

The CBS network season for 2011-2012 is ready for the September 19 premiere week!

2 Broke Girls, the networks newest comedy, will open at a special time after the “most watched network’s” major comedy Two And A Half Men.

ComingSoon reports that CBS will also launch most of its new and returning programs during premier week (September 19-25).

Since there are more shows than there are primetime slots in the allotted week, other “most watched” shows like Survivor opens its 10 season one week earlier on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, while other comedies open one week later –  Mike & Molly (September 26) , and  How To Be A Gentlemen (September 29).

Tuesday, September 20 premieres Unforgettable.   Thursday, Sept. 22 premiers Person Of Interest, preceded by back-to-back episodes of The Big Bang Theory.  Friday, September 23, features the premiere of A Gifted Man.

What are the new shows about?  ComingSoon reports:

2 Broke Girls is about two young women who meet while working at a diner and become friends in the hope of creating a successful business, if they can raise enough money.

Max (Kat Dennings), a street-savvy girl, is working 2 jobs to get by.

Sophisticated Caroline (Beth Behrs) is an uptown girl who is down on her luck, forcing her to work as a waitress.

Max views Caroline as just another inept rich girl, but is surprised to learn that Caroline has substance behind her shallow exterior.

Caroline discovers Max has a knack for baking amazing cupcakes and she sees a lucrative future for them, but they first need to raise the start-up money.

Working together, these two broke girls living in a very expensive city do everything possible to find their break.  Michael Patrick King (“Sex and the City”) and writer-comedian Whitney Cummings (“Chelsea Lately”) are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television.

How To Be A Gentleman is based on the book of the same name and is a comedy about the odd friendship between a refined writer and his rough-around-the-edges personal trainer.

Andrew Carlson (David Hornsby) is an etiquette columnist who is devoted to a more civilized time of the past and has chosen to detach himself from today’s version of society.

Bert Lansing (Kevin Dillon) is a reformed “bad boy” from Andrew’s past.  Bert has since inherited a fitness center that he runs successfully but is still known to be rude, loud, and sloppy.

A request from Andrew’s editor that he put a more up to date twist on his column or risk being fired, inspires Andrew to hire Bert as a life coach to help him be less of a gentlemen!

Andrews’s mother and sister get involved causing hilarious chaos and although Andrew and Bert’s views might be very different, they find each other’s missing link.

Unforgettable. PoppyMontgomery stars as Carrie Wells, a former police detective a perfect memory.  She remembers every second in her life flawlessly except she is duped by the fact that she can’t come up with the details that would help to solve her own sister’s cold case murder.

She unexpectedly meets up with her ex-boyfriend and former partner, NYPD Detective Al Burns (Dylan Walsh), while consulting on a homicide case.  She ultimately joins Al’s unit despite her better judgment but with the intent to use his unit to help olve her sister’s murder.

A Gifted Man is about a brilliant surgeon whose life changes forever when he is visited by his deceased ex-wife who ultimately teaches him the meaning of life.

Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson) is the doctor who lives the high life of luxury thanks to his work-obsessed career and high profile and powerful patients.

Michael’s life is turned upside down when his ex-wife, a free-clinic doctor and the love of his life appears to him from the “great beyond.”

Michael eventually accepts Anna’s presence and becomes touched by others in need and begins to realize that there is room to help everyone.

Academy Award nominee Susannah Grant (“Erin Brockovich”), Academy Award winner Jonathan Demme (“The Silence of the Lambs”), Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Neal Baer (“ER”) are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

I'm a regular person who is passionate about writing... any kind of writing. I used to write short stories as a child. That brought me to a 35 year career as a business writer and instructional designer and developer as well as a developer of user guides, manuals, and instructional classroom aids for corporate trainees. Upon retirement, I tackled the first item on my bucket list -- to write a novel. It took many months of thought, planning, outlining, and ultimately sitting at the keyboard for months but finally, I did write my novel. So now I'm a regular person and retiree who has reinvented herself as a published author of fiction! I love researching everything and anything to satisfy many facets of my very curious personality, so it was only natural that I advance that love of research into reporting on the happenings of the day, weeks and months as to what's new on the shopping lists of merchandise buyers for fashion, and technology. Why not add to that, entertainment and the most layered and complex world of music. I love it all! I hope you'll love some of it :()
