New 4G Notebook – 4G Speed, With No Monthly Contract, Revealed Today

The new HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr pulls Verizon fully into its next generation wireless network with the first 4G LTE powered notebook.

In addition to the 4G connection, this notebook sports a faster processor than its predecessor, the HP Pavilion dm1.  It has an 11.6 inch LED display with a 1366×768 resolution, a 1.60GHz AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.  The HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr Entertainment PC (couldn’t marketing come up with a better name?) also includes a VGA webcam and integrated microphone.  The 4G notebook measures only 1.2 inches thick and weighs 3.52 pounds.  It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system pre-installed.

Surprisingly, the Verizon data plan needed for a 4G LTE connection doesn’t require a two-year contract. Verizon will offer a no-contract, pay as you go, month to month plan for data.  Unfortunately, there is no ultra-cheap plan – the only available options are up to 5GB per month for $50 or 10GB per month for $80.  Subscribers can expect download speeds from 5MB to 12MB per second, and upload speeds of 2MB to 5MB per second.  The notebook does include WiFi, so the notebook can be used without a 4G connection by connecting through a home or other WiFi hotspot.

The 4G notebook will be available for sale starting today – July 28th, online from www.verizonwireless.com for $599.99.
