Netflix For Apple TV Now Available Through iTunes

Netflix will now be available to Apple TV users who wish to pay for the subscription service through their iTunes account. And with the new Apple TV that was revealed by Apple today, the streaming service will be available in 1080p high definition and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

Netflix announced the changes in the sign-up and billing of their service today through their blog. In the past, Apple TV users could sign up for Netflix, but had to do so through Netflix’s website, not through iTunes.

NetflixJust yesterday we reported that Netflix is said to be in talks with cable companies who might offer Netflix as an on-demand type service. In those cases, billing would be done through the cable company, as part of regular cable bill.

Netflix is apparently ramping up its marketing efforts after a rough year and with hungry competitors such as Hulu Plus, Amazon, Redbox, and Comcast, circling like hungry wolves.

According to Netflix, the ability sign up and pay for Netflix through iTunes started today and will be available in the following countries: the U.S., Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom and Ireland. The feature will be available in the new software update that Apple is pushing out to previous versions of the Apple TV set-top-box, and is already a part of the new Apple TV, which will be available in stores on March 16.
