More Buzz About 7 Inch iPad Abounds

Late last month we heard rumors about a possible summer launch of a bigger iPhone.

Today, there’s talk of a smaller iPad in the works.

There’s been bubbling speculation about the possibility of a 7 inch version of Apple’s popular iPad tablet for some time now. So far, most have lacked any details, but that seems to be changing. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, who regularly covers Apple, said in a podcast that sources are telling him a smaller version of the iPad is being tested at Apple. According to Gruber, it will be 7.85 inches, and will not include the ‘retina display’ that is so highly touted on Apple’s new iPad. Instead, it will have the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the first and second generation iPads.

Gruber said that he didn’t know if the smaller iPad would come to market, only that Apple has one in the lab for testing.

That Apple would be trying out a smaller version would only be logical. It would be negligent of Apple not to test one out and consider marketing it. But will they actually put one on sale? That’s the main question.
