Michael Irvin Poses On Cover Of Gay Magazine ‘OUT’

Michael Irvin, former Dallas Cowboy star and receiver of the Professional Football Hall of Fame, posed for this month’s cover of Out. Out is a popular gay magazine that focuses on a gay and lesbian perspective on style, entertainment, fashion, the arts, politics, culture, and the world at large.

In his interview article for Out magazine, Irvin discussed his late brother Vaughn, who passed away at age 46 in 2006 due to stomach cancer, as well as his own personal opinions and feelings regarding issues such as same-sex marriage.

Irwin said he had learned of his brother Vaughn’s sexuality in the 1970s when he found him wearing women’s clothing. While Irvin speculates that this surprising discovery might have contributed to his own womanizing as an adult, he gives credit to his father, Walter, for helping him accept his brother’s homosexuality.

“I don’t see how any African-American, with any inkling of history, can say that you don’t have the right to live your life how you want to live your life,” Irvin said in support of gay marriage.

“If anyone comes out in those top four major sports, I will absolutely support him,” said the former Cowboys star, as reported by USA TODAY. “…When a guy steps up and says, ‘This is who I am,’ I guarantee you I’ll give him 100 percent support.”

Irvin played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1988 to 1999 and was elevated into the Professional Football Hall of Fame in August 2007. Irvin is currently an analyst for the NFL Network.
