Kiefer Sutherland’s “Touch” Gets Off To A Strong Start

Kiefer Sutherland’s new TV drama “Touch” got off to a strong start with its pilot episode last night.

The new show was created by Tim Kring, who also created the series “Heroes”, “Crossing Jordan” and “Strange World.” It stars Sutherland, David Mazouz, Danny Glover, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Roxana Brusso, and Karen David.

Sutherland plays Martin Bohm, a man who lost his wife in the September 11 NYC terrorist attacks. Bohm’s son Jake, played by David Mazouz, is mute. The 11 year old boy is fascinated by numbers… and has the ability to predict the future.

Mazouz, who is not actually mute, is the narrator of the series. The story evolves around Bhom’s gradual understanding of his son, who has been diagnosed with autism. The theme of the show is complex, with intertwined and interrelated events spanning the globe which only the son (and hopefully the audience) can pull together and understand.

Last night’s pilot, which followed American Idol on FOX, drew in a respectable number of viewers, 11.09 million, according to USA Today. That gives it the 2nd largest premier of a new drama this season. ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” is the only one that has bested it so far, with 12.79 million viewers.

It will be a little while before we get to see more of this new show. The series won’t appear again until March 19. It will have a Monday, 9PM, time slot.
