Hunter Mahan/Graeme McDowell Faceoff In PGA Tournament Of Champions

For the first time since October’s Ryder cup, rivals Hunter Mahan and Graeme McDowell will once again be facing off on the green, this time in Hawaii for the first tournament of the PGA Tour.

When they last crossed clubs, the American Mahan lost the Cup to the Irish McDowell’s five foot putt, sending Europe into the victory lap.

The Tournament of Champions kicks off next week, giving viewers yet another emotional opportunity to witness this rivalry in action.

“One of the most compelling moments of 2010 was their final-day match up during the Ryder Cup,” said Nancy Cross, Tournament of Champions director in a statement to the press.

Mcdowell will be the only reigning champion to set foot on the field in Hawaii.

Cross continued with, “To have these two paired together for the start of the season, we couldn’t have scripted it better.”

Hopeful viewers can also expect to see Ernie Els matched up with the Aussie Jason Day, and Francesco Molinari will be teeing-off with Adam Scott, also from Australia.

Mcdowell was named on the New Year’s Honors list, and was formally recognized by Queen Elizabeth after his resounding victory at the Ryder Cup.
