Honda Recalling Snow Blowers After Finding Fuel Leak

Honda is recalling approximately 18,500 snow blowers due to a malfunction that causes fuel tanks to leak, creating a dangerous fire hazard. This comes at a time that the Northeastern US is trying to dig itself out of some of the worst blizzards in decades.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday that a small drip can occur around the fuel tank joint and o-ring located on the underside, with 90 customer complaints received so far.

The snow blower models involved in the massive recall are model numbers HS724 with the frame serial number SZBE-1037913 through 1046577; model number HS928 with the frame serial number SZAS-1151080 through 1169012, and model number HS1132 with the frame serial number SZBF-1018734 through 1025998. The model numbers are located on the side of the front scoop. Frame serial numbers are located on the back of the snow blower just below the engine.

The snow blowers have been sold nationwide since April 2005.

The CPSC said consumers should stop using the snowblowers immediately and call their Honda Power Equipment dealer to have all the parts replaced free of charge.
