Have Groceries Delivered With Wal-Mart To Go

Residents of San Jose, California can take advantage of a new online grocery ordering and delivery service being tested currently by Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart To Go, the new online grocery delivery service, offers consumers the ability to choose and order their groceries from the retail giant’s website. They then set up a convenient delivery time and their food is brought in temperature controlled trucks. The new service is competing with similar services already in existence such as Fresh Direct, but as the country’s largest grocer Wal-Mart has the ability to offer better prices on their items.

Customers can get a 64 ounce carton of milk for $3.50 through Wal-Mart To Go while paying $4.29 on Fresh Direct. Celery at Wal-Mart is $1.98 compared to $3.49 from the competitor. Even with the lower prices there is a down side for many to using the service. Meats must be purchased in pre-determined sizes and produce comes only in pounds and not individually.

Even with that, the packaged food selection is greater than competitors and offered at lower prices. With delivery fees that begin at only $5.00, Wal-Mart is hoping that consumers will see the benefit in ordering at least part of their groceries online.
