Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 Breaks Records

Opening Friday, July 15, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2, the eighth and final film in the Harry Potter movie series, has broken a number of records in its opening weekend.  Raking in $169,189,427 in its first three days, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2 broke the record for biggest three-day opening weekend.  The record was previously held by The Dark Knight ($158,411,483).

The final film broke the record for biggest worldwide debut of all time, previously held by the sixth movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  It also broke the record for most Pre-sale tickets, with over $30 million sold before the movie had opened.

This weekends top three earners stand as thus: 1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2 $169,189,427, 2. Transformers: Dark of the Moon $21,250,000, 3. Horrible Bosses $17,630,000.

If the film stays on track, its estimated world wide debut sits at around $457.5 million.  So far Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2 reviews have been positive.  To date, it has a 97% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com, a popular movie review website and an 87 on Metacritic.com, a site which compiles reviews from all over the web and translates them into a number out of one-hundred.
