Galaxy Tab 10.1: Price, Availability, & Where You Can Get It Today

The eagerly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launched today.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a tablet with a 10.1 inch touchscreen. It features a dual core 1GHz processor and comes with 1GB of RAM. It’s thin, just .33 inches thick, and light, just 1.3 lbs. There are two cameras, one a 2MP front facing, the other a 3MP rear facing camera with an LED flash. It’s being considered a competitor to the iPad.

The new tablet runs on Google’s Android 3.1 (Honeycomb), and Samsung plans to add it’s proprietary TouchWiz features in the future.

Connectivity wise, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is Wi-Fi only. No 4G at this time, however, according to Samsung, there may be a 4G version released later. Verizon is taking pre-orders for that one, which may be released sometime near the end of July.

As for the price, the 16GB version is $499, and the 32 GB version is $599.

According to Samsung, there are only two places where the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is currently available for purchase – Best Buy and Amazon. Checking at Best Buy’s website, it says the 32GB version is currently available in stores only – and provides a lookup for specific stores to see if it’s available. The 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 is available for ordering through their site.  Amazon has them online and they are currently listed as in-stock.

Though Samsung did not mention them when we asked for a list of stores where the Galaxy Tab 10.1 would be available or could be ordered today, Circuit City also as them listed on their site with a note listing the availability as ‘order today, ship today’.
