First ‘Iron Man 3’ Teaser Trailer Shows New Footage [Video]

After saving the world in The Avengers, Iron Man returns in summer 2013’s Iron Man 3.

To herald Tony Stark’s return to the big screen, Marvel asked fans to “re-energize Tony’s arc reactor” by “Liking” the official Iron Man Facebook page. Every like brought Stark’s arc reactor closer to 100% and today it reached full capacity, giving fans a “special sneak preview of Iron Man 3.”

That “special sneak preview”? A 17-second teaser trailer…for the full trailer that’ll be out this Tuesday.

It may only be 17 seconds, but it’s 17 seconds of new Iron Man 3 footage, showing shots of Pepper Potts seemingly in danger, Tony in his new armor, and even a behind-the-back glimpse at the film’s villian, the Mandarin.

The newest addition to the Iron Man franchise sees the return of Robert Downey, Jr. as ol’ Shellhead, Gwyneth Paltrow as the lovely Pepper Potts, and Don Cheadle as Tony’s best friend (and sometimes frenemy) James “Rhodey” Rhodes (aka War Machine).  Ben Kingsley joins the cast as the Mandarin.

The film will be in theaters May 3, 2013, and the first full trailer will be out on Tuesday. The teaser trailer for Iron Man 3 can be found below.
