Erica Blasberg’s Doctor Guilty In Suicide Case

The doctor of pro golfer Erica Blasberg has pled guilty to an obstruction of justice charge in relation to her suicide death in May.

Thomas Hess admitted that he did remove a suicide note and prescription medications from her home prior to police investigating her death. His reasoning was that he wished to spare her family any embarrassment from a suicide.

The doctor was sentenced to a year of probation and 40 hours of community service.

Hess found Blasberg with a bag over her head on May 9 and phoned 911.

Erica’s father, Mel Blasberg, has stated his belief that the doctor was partially responsible for his daughter’s death. He feels Hess had an inappropriate relationship with his daughter that not only played a role in her decision but also prevented him from being forthcoming with police.

Blasberg joined pro golf in 2004 where she played on the LPGA tour for more than five years.
