Emmy Awards 2012: Nominee Highlights, Early Preview

emmy-awardsWe may have a record breaker at the the 2012 Emmy Awards!

“Mad Men” has the potential to win it’s 5th straight Emmy. The cable show is nominated in the “Outstanding Drama Series” category. But the competition is stiff. It’s going up against “Boardwalk Empire,” “Breaking Bad,” “Homeland,” “Downton Abbey” and “Game of Thrones.” But if “Mad Men” pulls it off, it will be the first time a show has ever won five Emmys in the outstanding drama category. Currently tying “Mad Men” with four outstanding drama wins are “Hill Street Blues,” ” L.A. Law,” and  “The West Wing.”

The 2012 Primetime Emmy nominees were announced on Thursday. The actual awards ceremony will be held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on September 23, and 7pm eastern time. It will be shown live on ABC, and be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

So we have about two months of speculation over just who the winners will be. Besides the outstanding drama best drama category (listed above), here are some particular categories we’ll be watching closely:
