Nielsen SoundScan announced the best selling albums of 2010 and it was Eminem’s “Recovery” that managed to sell the most copies, even if Susan Boyle and Taylor Swift seemed to be able to dethrone the rapper near the end of the year.
Eminem’s “Recovery” sold 3.4 million copies. Although the second most sold album was “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum with 3.1 million copies, specialists looked closer to Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now”.
Swift manages to sell albums really fast and it is expected that album sales are going to continue this year and surpass Eminem’s album.
Recovery was also the best selling digital album with 852,000 copies.
Swift managed to reach the status of overall top selling artist thanks to the catalog and the album, both launched last year. On the whole Eminem managed to sell 4.3 million copies while Taylor Swift a little more with 4.4 million.
In related news, the most sold digital artist was Katy Perry with 4.4 million downloads thanks to the collaboration with Snoop Dogg. In comparison, Eminem’s “Love the Way you Lie” only managed to sell 4.2 million downloads.
We can safely say that 2010 was Eminem’s year in terms of albums and tracks sold.
