Char-Broil K6B Review: Grilling W/Infrared Makes A Difference

Is it time to think about replacing that rusty, old charcoal grill with the new classic backyard fixture for the summer?  Today’s gas grills offer the backyard chef so much more than just an uncontrolled rack on which you can cook burgers and hot dogs.

Char-Broil, one of the largest producers of consumer propane grills, has released a new model for the 2011 grilling season.  The K6B is a six burner unit rated at 65,000 BTUs.  Besides the heat, the grilling surface is enormous allowing you to easily cook for 8-12 adults at one time.  Did someone say backyard party?  The K6B is available nationwide at Wal-mart and Home Depot stores and through many online retailers.

Once you get the box home and see what is inside, you may just gasp.  There are a lot of parts to assemble, but if you are patient and have about 1-2 hours, you will have it assembled and ready for use.  On the other hand, if the prospect of 1-2 hours of work sounds daunting and you have a little time to spare while someone else assembles your new cooking machine, many retail stores now offer a free assembly service.  Just ask at the customer service desk.

The Char-Broil K6B is not just a normal direct-heat cooker.  It utilizes infrared energy generated by the burning propane to do the actual cooking.  This is a little different than traditional direct-heat grilling, but quite easy to get the hang of with just a little practice.  And the results taste amazing.  The pork chops that I cooked on my K6B last night were absolutely perfect.  The grill is seemingly well-built and made of quality components.

For a budget-priced grill, the K6B is a good bargain and sure to please even the largest backyard crowds.
