Champions League: Real Madrid To Challenge Jose Mourinho Ban

The Spanish football club, Real Madrid, have decided to contest UEFA’s decision to ban their manager Jose Mourinho for five matches. Mourinho was banned by the UEFA at the end of the first leg of their semi-final against Barcelona, a game which was deemed as one of the ugliest this La Liga season.

The reason for the ban stemmed from the fact that Mourinho had spoken about how he thought that UEFA favoured Barcelona more than any other club.

The problem was probably brought about by the referee’s decision to red-card Pepe, which meant that Real Madrid had to play with ten men for the rest of the time. At that point, it was 0-0 and Lionel Messi then smashed in a couple of goals to take Barcelona home.

Interestingly, the red card had been given for an apparent tackle on Dani Alves, but the replays showed that there had been no contact between the two men.

Barcelona got a draw out of the second leg game at home and were through to the final of the Champions League. Mourinho went on to say that the European’s apex football body’s bias towards Barcelona means that no other side can ever contest them.
