‘Breaking Bad’ went out in a true blaze of glory by taking home 5 Emmy Awards during Monday night’s telecast.
The AMC hit drama secured the Emmy for Outstanding Drama and Writing for its gripping final season.
Actors Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn each took home Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, respectively.
‘Breaking Bad’ nearly swept the entire drama category this year, the exception being Outstanding Lead Actress, for which the show did not receive a nomination.
Julianna Margulies won the honor Monday night for her role on ‘The Good Wife.’ This was her second Emmy for the role, the first received in 2011.
Most noticeable with all the wins for ‘Breaking Bad’ was a complete shutout of all nominations of Netflix Original Series, including both ‘House of Cards’ (for which lead actor Kevin Spacey picked up an Emmy last year) and ‘Orange is the New Black,’ nominated for Outstanding Comedy.
The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast on Monday night on local NBC affiliates.
