Arrests Made In Girl Scout Cookie Case

Two men have been arrested in connection with the violent theft of money that Girl Scouts had earned selling cookies outside a Walmart store in Fort Bend County, Texas.

We told you about the incident earlier this month. A car pulled up to where the girls were selling their Girl Scout cookies. A man got out of the car and appeared interested in purchasing cookies, but instead grabbed the girl’s cash box. He then jumped into the car to flee. Two of the Girl Scouts chased him down, one hitting him in the face when he was in the car. The other Girl Scout grabbed the car and was dragged a short distance before falling. She received minor injuries. The sheriffs department estimated there was $50 to $100 in the cash box.

Yesterday police announced that they arrested Justin Rogers Zenon, 18, and a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released because he was a juvenile.

The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council issued a statement which read in part:

“We are both thankful and relieved to learn the two cookie theft suspects have been arrested. Our priority continues to be the safety and well-being of the girls and this news is helpful as they try to put the incident behind them.

The troop has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our community and the girls are looking forward to attending Girl Scout summer camp in a few months thanks to donations they have received from across our community”
