After eleven days on the run, one of the Arizona prison escapees has been captured in Wyoming, but there is still one on the loose. The Casper police department was notified of the arrest by U.S. Marshals. Tracy Province was apprehended in Meeteetse, Wyoming, according to police reports.
On July 30, three men escaped an Arizona prison. John Charles McCluskey is the only one still at large. He is suspected to be in Yellowstone with his cousin/fiancee Casslyn Mae Welch. Province was captured Monday. The third man, Daniel Renwick, was apprehended the day after the escape, during a shootout with police.
McCluskey is still believed to be armed and dangerous.
Evidence is building that the escapees are connected to the murder of a couple in New Mexico.
Authorities say that McCluskey has been known to frequent places like truck stops and campgrounds. There have been ties to white supremacy while in prison. He belonged to the Aryan Brotherhood in prison, but as of now there is nothing solid tying them to outside organizations.
As of right now, Yellowstone officials say they are conducting business as usual. They are, however, making a point to recommend safety precautions to guests and employees.
Anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest of McCluskey will be up for a $40,000 reward.
The convicts served time in prison for murder as well as other charges. It is believed that Welch tossed tools over the fence that allowed the convicts to escape.
McCluskey’s mother was arrested on Saturday for aiding the escape. She is said to have provided money and other assistance to the convicts upon their escape.
