Android 4.1 Upgrade For Samsung Galaxy S3 This October, Says Report

According to geek.com, Samsung has confirmed that it will be providing Android 4.1 for some variants of the device starting from October, 2012.

The Galaxy S3 has been Samsung’s flagship phone and has had a tremendous sale record, this new update will be added incentive for potential customers and is surely to boost sales of the phone.

The report further states that the updates, are targeted towards the international  Galaxy S3 sold in most European countries. This phone comes with a quad-core Exynos processor and 3G HSPA+ data. The US variants are all based on a dual-core Snapdragon S4 and have 4G LTE.

It’s possible the update may be slated for Europe but not yet for the United States. No other details were revealed, including the release date for the upgrade. Android 4.1.1 recently started rolling out in the U.S. for the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S 4G via Sprint.

Samsung very recently came forth with the fact that the Galaxy S3 has become the best selling smartphone in the history of the company after over 20 million units being shipped in less than 100 days after the launch. Samsung revealed today that it expects to sell 30 million Galaxy S3 handsets by the end of this year.
