American Idol’s Sudden Death Round 2: Curtis Finch Jr. Outperforms The Rest

Another night of Fox’s American Idol Season 12 continued with the Sudden Death Round.

Last night featured the first 10 girls. This time it was the boys’ turn to perform for a spot in the Top 20.

As the first 10 boys stormed the stage, there was only one who outperformed the rest.

Enter Curtis Finch Jr., who so classically performed Luther Vandross’ “Superstar.”

Finch effortlessly sang with immense soul. He so flawlessly showcased both his high and low register with incredible vocal control.

Oh, and his falsetto was spot on! Finch’s classic soulful vibe definitely reminded me of last season’s top three contestant Joshua Ledet.

Keith Urban emphasized how beautiful Finch’s voice is and how he would love to hear more of it.

Nicki Minaj professed: “Every time you step up on stage you take the competition to another level and the other contestants are waiting to see what you are going to do.”

Randy Jackson pointed out that he believed Finch has one of the best voices in the competition.

Mariah Carey affirmed: “You moved me to tears. Your voice and your musicality is who you are and I love you for it.”

In the end, who were the 5 boys the judges decided to go through to the next round of the competition?
1) Paul Jolley
2) Devin Velez
3) Elijah Liu
4) Charlie Askew
5) Curtis Finch Jr.
