AEGON Championships: Andy Murray Routs Andy Roddick To Enter Final

Andy Murray entered the final of the AEGON Championships by overcoming Andy Roddick in the semi-final on Saturday. It was a one-sided game that resulted in a 6-3, 6-1 win for Murray, who will be gunning for his first title in 2011.

Such was the one-sidedness of the contest that Murray will now go into the final against the winner of the match between Tsonga and Ward, as a favourite.

Roddick had gone into the semi-finals, having beaten Murray when the two had last met on grass in the 2009 Wimbledon but this was a different Murray altogether. This defeat means that Roddick will not be a fifth time champion of the crown at the Queens.

There were far too many errors this Wimbledon from Roddick, who tried to use his serve but found it difficult to overcome the unforced errors. Interestingly, Murray slammed 10 aces to Roddick’s two in the first set – a measure of how much the Scottish player’s serve has improved.

Roddick did not have a single chance to break his opponent and was packed off easily to now face the winner of Tsonga and Ward. Tsonga had beaten an exhausted Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.
