35 Kindle Fire Games Featuring GameCircle Now Available

A growing number of Kindle Fire games are now taking advantage of Amazon’s new GameCircle feature.

Amazon launched GameCircle, which allows Kindle Fire gamers to record and track achievements and view leader-boards, last month. Now, according to Amazon, there are 35 games with GameCircle enabled.

Paul Ryder, Vice President of Apps, Games, and Services at Amazon said at the time the new service launched: “Our goal is to give developers great tools to quickly and easily reach new customers and keep them engaged. That’s why we’re creating easy-to-integrate APIs for features like leaderboards, achievements and sync.  We also introduced In-App Purchasing API in April, allowing developers to offer a seamless 1-Click purchasing experience within their apps and games, and we’re just getting started. GameCircle gives developers the right tools to build an immersive, more entertaining experience on Kindle Fire, which will ultimately help developers grow their business.”

Amazon’s GameCircle is similar to Apple’s Game Center, ramping up competition between the two popular, but very different, tablets.

Earlier this summer, Amazon launched Game Connect, a digital game distribution platform. Game Connect is an e-commerce distribution system that lets customers discover and download free-to-play PC games. Amazon is also handling some of the back-end features for the developers, such as selling virtual goods and subscriptions. The Game Connect will be a direct competitor to Steam, which is an established name dealing with digital game distributions.
