2011 Oscars Winners List

The 2011 Oscars kicked off on Sunday. Here are the big winners.

“The King’s Speech” takes home the Oscar for Best Picture, a category with 9 other nominees, including “The Social Network,” the David Fincher film about Mark Zuckerberg that was awarded the Golden Globe for the same category earlier in the year.

“The King’s Speech” stars Colin Firth, who also received the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of King George VI as he attempted to overcome a crippling stutter and rouse the nation against the Nazi threat. The movie received a total of 4 Oscars, including Best Director.

Natalie Portman was awarded Best Actress for her role as a ballet dancer in Darren Arnofsky’s thriller “Black Swan,” and Melissa Leo took the prize for Best Supporting Actress for “The Fighter.” Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the same film.

The winner for Best Animated Film was hardly a surprise: “Toy Story 3,” the third installment of the heartwarming Pixar series.

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails once again beat out competition for Best Score, giving him the Oscar as well as the Golden Globe for his work in “The Social Network.”

Finally, “Inception” tied with “The King’s Speech” for most Oscars, taking home the prize for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
