2011 MTV Video Music Awards: Nominees, Start Time, Live Streaming Info

Tonight, MTV will mark its 27th year running the Video Music Awards (VMAs). Here’s the rundown on who’s nominated, when it starts, where it’s held, and where it can be watched online via live streaming.

This year’s MTV VMAs is taking place live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

There will not be a single host at this year’s VMAs, because celebrities and musicians will both present awards, as well as introduce musical acts.

There will be performances tonight by Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Pitbull and Jessie J, Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Ne-Yo and Young The Giant.

Celebrities that will be most likely be seen at tonight’s VMAs include Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Zoe Saldana, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, JB Smoove, and many more.

There will also be a tribute to Amy Winehouse, which will include Tony Bennett, who recorded a duet with her before she passed last month.

Katy Perry has been nominated for nine VMAs, Adele for seven, Kanye West for six, Bruno Mars for four, and Lady Gaga for three.

The current MTV VMAs predictions are that Justin Bieber will beat Cee Lo Green and Eminem by a landslide with his music video for “U Smile,” and win the VMA for “Best Male Video.” Lady Gaga is expected to win the VMA for “Best Female Video,” while Wiz Khalifa will take the VMA for “Best New Artist.” Katy Perry is expected to win at least two awards tonight, most likely “Best Pop Video” and “Video of the Year.” The VMA odds also predict that Kanye West will get up on stage during the awards show, but this time to receive an award, instead of rudely interrupting Taylor Swift.

Live coverage of tonight’s pre-show, red carpet event will be hosted by none other than Selena Gomez. The pre-show begins at 8 p.m. ET/PT and can be viewed in the media player below.
