World Cup 2014: TV Schedule/Streaming/ Match-ups & Predictions

Day 9 of the 2014 World Cup features 3 match ups from Groups D & E that will have fans on the edge of their seats.

ESPN will be covering all the day’s action Live starting at noon.

The 12 P.M. (EST) game will have everyone watching as Italy (Group D) and Croatia (Group D) battle it out for 1st place in their group.

Croatia is like the little country that could, defeating Uruguay, who was expected to be atop the leader board, in their 1st round game.

The question now is do they have what it takes to pull off another shocking win against 4-time world champions Italy?

Italy, meanwhile, finds themselves up against a team who was supposed to be their easiest opponent but is now looking much more fierce.

Italy defeated England in their 1st round match, surprising many.  England, like Uruguay, was also thought to be a top contender before Italy pulled off the upset.

Despite Croatia’s strong showing I expect Italy to come away with the win 3-1.

The action continues at 3 P.M. (EST) when Switzerland (Group E) takes on France (Group E) to see who will get one of Group E’s 2 spots to the next round.

Both teams won their 1st round games and looked solid, so this should be a close match.

Switzerland defeated Ecuador and looked sharp, showing strong offensive and defensive moves.

France had a strong performance in their win over Honduras, looking confident and poised.  This is the 1st time France has gotten off to a positive start in a World’s Cup.

This will be a tight match, but I’m predicting France will win by a score of 3-2.

The final match of the day will be Honduras and Ecuador at 6 P.M. (EST) in a critical Group E match up.

These 2 teams both lost in round 1 and know that whoever loses will probably be going home.

Interestingly, in head-to-head competition Honduras has won 4 times, Ecuador has won 3 times and they have drawn 6 times, so it may come down to who wants it more.

All things considered I like Ecuador in this game 1-0.

Remember, you can also watch through online streaming from WATCHESPN and WATCHABC.  ESPN/ESPN 2 and ABC will be covering all 64 World cup games.
