Will the Next Call of Duty Flop or Flourish?

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (CoD AW) is just around the corner, but will it be enough to entice weary and jaded players into coming back for another round?

Call of Duty Ghosts may have made $1 billion in sales within the first 24 hours of release, but that amount is for units sold to retailers – not units sold to players themselves.

Heavy criticism about CoD Ghost’s from both gaming critics and gamers themselves did not help boost sales either.

So that begs the question: will CoD AW do better this time around?

Arving Bhatia, an analyst for Sterne Agee has revealed to Softpedia that Advanced Warfare could see up to 3 million fewer units sold compared to Call of Duty: Ghosts.

He cites an increasingly uninterested user base burned by the mediocrity of the last entry as a vital factor in the potential decline of CoD AW’s sales.

That is unless, the game delivers an experience that will reinvigorate tired fans.

A sci-fi setting filled with powered suits and drone swarms, a cast filled with recognizable names such as Kevin Spacey and Troy Baker, and the absence of competition in the AAA first-person shooter market could all work to CoD AW’s advantage.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be officially released on November 4, 2014 on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.

Excited about the newest entry in the Call of Duty Series? Bored stiff about the prospect of yet another mediocre entry in a tired franchise?
