What to Watch – Paralympics Day 9

Nine days of heart pounding competition comes to a close today.

Five weeks ago the world first said hello to Sochi, Russia as the Olympic Games opened. Today, the world says goodbye to the 2014 host as the Paralympic Winter Games comes to a close.

Before the exciting pageantry of the closing ceremonies, there are still a few events left on the schedule.

The final day of competition is packed with skiing competitions.

Alpine skiing leads off the day with the women’s giant slalom competition across all three divisions.  The United States will be well represented in the races with a total of seven athletes competing today.

Broadcast coverage of the alpine events will be the focus of NBCSN overnight with live coverage beginning at 4:30 am.

Just after the alpine competitions begin, the cross-country course will come alive for the final men’s and women’s events.

The men will compete in a 10 km race.  Nine men will compete for Team USA.

The final women’s competition will be held on a 5 km course. Four women will compete for the United States in the sitting division.

Coverage of all of the skiing events will be streamed on TeamUSA.org beginning at 1:30 am.

Once the final medals are handed out, the final party will begin. Team USA will be led into the closing ceremonies by their gold medal winning, sled hockey goaltender Steve Cash.

Coverage of the ceremony will be taped and shown on NBCSN at 3:30 pm. Live coverage of the event will be streamed at 12:30.
