Volvo Replaces Front Passenger Seat With A Baby Seat- What A Concept [Picture]

Volvo Replaces Front Passenger Seat With A Baby Seat- What A Concept [Picture]

Any parent knows the struggle that comes with using/removing a car seat and apparently, Volvo does too as they just unveiled a concept car featuring a baby carrier seat in place of the front passenger seat.

Pictures of the 2016 XC90 “Excellence” edition shows a swiveling, rear-facing baby seat where the standard passenger seat should be (see pic below) .

While there is no word on when or if this car will go from concept to reality, the idea is intriguing.

Yes, it would make the car a 3-seater instead of 4, but many parents (especially those with 1 or 2 kids) may find it is worth it.

Having the baby seat in front would give mom or dad easy and instant access to baby while traveling: no fighting to get the baby out of the back or being crammed back there.

In a statement Tisha Johnson, Volvo’s Chief Designer of Interiors said: “Being able to maintain eye contact with your child from the rear seat… would go a long way towards making life easier for parents taking their small child on a trip” adding that: “Such alternative seating arrangements will become increasingly important as we move towards autonomous vehicles.”

Of course, before any of this happens there are safety issues that would need to be addressed, in addition to questions of what happens to the front seat when the baby outgrows it.

Check out the picture below and tell us what you think of Volvo’s concept car below.
