Virtual Reality Coming To Chuck-E-Cheese!

Virtual reality devices will be tested at various Chuck-E-Cheese’s restaurants starting this month. The Oculus Rift VR will be provided to birthday parties during the six week trial period.

The Oculus will simulate a “Ticket Blaster,” a clear box where children try to gather as many tickets as they can while they are being blown around. Instead of climbing into the box, the child will put on the headset and try to grab “virtual tickets” which can be exchanged for prizes.

Chuck E. Cheese originally began working with Reel FX in 2012 to try and reinvent the brand. Reel FX is a pioneer at the forefront of Oculus Rift virtual reality content, so they were a natural choice to bring the child –focused pizza restaurant into a virtual reality experience and game

“We believe that virtual reality eventually will be as popular as our handheld devices,” said Executive Creative Director Dale Carman. “It’s a game–changer, and we’re investing incredible time and talent into developing content for the Oculus Rift.”

Test markets include Dallas, Orlando and San Diego.
