Tyson Recalls Chicken Nuggets Due To Plastic Contamination

Tyson Recalls Chicken Nuggets Due To Plastic Contamination

Tyson has issued a voluntary recall on over 130,000 pounds of their fully-cooked chicken nuggets after customers complained of biting into hard plastic.

According to the USDA, customer complaints are what alerted the company to the problem and led to the recall; the plastic, which ranges in size, from  21 millimeters in length and 6.5 millimeters in diameter, is believed to be from a plastic rod that connects a transfer belt.

The recalled products are as follows:

5-pound bags labeled “Tyson FULLY COOKED PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS” with a “best if used by” date of July 18, 2017.

20-pound bulk packages with “SPARE TIME Fully Cooked, Panko Chicken Nuggets, Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters with Rib Meat” with a production date of July 18, 2016.

The 5-pound bag was distributed nationwide, while the 20-pound bag was shipped just to Pennsylvania.

Anyone with a recalled bag in their possession can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The USDA reports there are no illnesses or injuries in relation to the recall at this time, but in the event of illness, consumers should contact their doctor.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the recall can contact Tyson Foods’ Consumer Relations at 866-328-3156.
