“The Last of Us” Review – Do You Love A Great Plot?

The Last of Us gives every zombie fan exactly what they want: diverse, stellar and action packed interactions with the undead.

The amount of concentration that is required in order to play this game is beyond anything else required in other zombie shooters.

The game is designed to be something more than the average zombie shooter like we would see in a Call of Duty Black Ops game.

Instead, the game has a plot, amazing characterization, and a continuous story line which keeps the player sitting in front of the TV with a controller in their hand.

A lot of reviews online have been giving the game a solid 8 out of 10 in most cases. That’s a very good score for a zombie shooter which hasn’t been out for that long. However, like with any game, there are some downsides.

One thing that stood out is that there is a lack of character development in the side characters in the game.

There is a lot of character development in the main characters. But when it comes to the minor ones, it seems the developers just let their story stay a mystery. This could be of course on purpose, but chances are they just didn’t feel the need to do so.

Besides the lack of story on the minor characters, the game has a lot of great features.

For example, it’s in the third person view, or what is known as over the shoulder perspective. It works  great. Most zombie games that have seen success usually possess this view. Resident Evil is one example of this view.

There are advantages to this perspective. You can see those undead buggers trying to sneak up on ya, and it gives you a full view of your surroundings (important for finding loot).

The best feature that is available in the game is the continuous story line. There aren’t load screens, per se, Cinematics tell the story of the survivors in  the game. Take advantage of these cinematics, because they’re very important to the actual plot of the game.

If you’re someone who doesn’t like following the plot to a video game, then you should probably not be playing the single player version of The Last of Us and just play the game online.
