‘The Bastard Executioner’ is a 14th century period drama about a warrior knight Wilkin Brattle (played by Lee Jones), whose plans to lead a peaceful existence are shattered when his family is brutally murdered.
Created by SOA showrunner Kurt Sutter, it also has former SOA director Paris Barclay on board as executive producer and everyone’s favorite SOA villain, Katey Sagal (who is also Sutter’s wife), playing the part of mystic Annora.
Comparisons to Sons have led to mixed reviews, but Sutter’s penchant for intense, complex character development and violent, heart-stopping action should erase any initial naysayers.
