The 2014 US Open: Ticket Information, Pricing and Bracket Preview

The 2014 US Open kicks off this Monday, August 25 for 2 weeks at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, NY.

News For Shoppers has  all your ticket information, pricing and bracket previews to get you ready for what will be the final Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Tickets are currently on sale through Ticketmaster, which can be accessed from the US Open Site.

They can be purchased individually or as a group at this time.

There were special ticket plan packages, such as full series, premiere week and championship series, but as Channel from Ticketmaster explained to us they are no longer available as it is too close to the event.

Individual Tickets range in price from $70 for the upper section of Arthur Ashe Stadium to $500 for court side seating.

They are arranged by date and are simple to buy: you click on the date your interested in, then click the seat you want on the interactive map to purchase directly from the site.

You can also buy tickets over the phone and in person.

Group Ticket Plans  are available for groups of 25 or more and can be purchased per session.

Purchasing in a group will save you up to $12 a ticket and ensure your group is seated together and eliminate the individual ticket fee.

Group prices are slightly lower and can also be purchased over the phone.

This year’s Open promises to be an exciting one, with all the top names competing in the men’s and women’s brackets.

On the men’s side the one notable absence is Rafael Nadal, who had to withdraw due to a wrist injury.

With Nadal out top seed Novak Djokovic, Rodger Federer and Andy Murray all have an equal shot at the title.

Djokovic won this years Wimbledon after battling Federer for 5 grueling sets and is the favorite, but he has been having a rough time the last few weeks, leaving room for his fellow competitors.

Federer won 5 straight Open titles, from 2004-2009 and has won 17 major titles, a record that makes him a threat every time he plays.

Much like Agassi with Sampras, Federer’s only obstacle in recent years has been Nadal, so he has a golden opportunity here.

Murray has had a rough time here at Flushing Meadows in recent years and battled back issues  at the start of the season.

However, he is expected to be 100% now and if so will give the rest of the field a very difficult time.

On the women’s side it is shaping up to be a highly competitive bracket, with some established stars and fierce newcomers vying for the championship.

Serena Williams, who holds 17 Grand Slam titles is coming off a disappointing Wimbledon performance as she tries to win her 18th title, which would make her even with Evert and Navratilova.

She is always the center of attention and this year her opening set will draw even more attention as usual since she is facing Taylor Townsend, the 18 year old phenom who may give her a run for her money.

Townsend got in with a wild card draw and made it to the third roundof the French Open.

Marai Sharapova will also be front and center as she tries to win her 2nd major title of the season, which would be a first in her career.

Sharapova won the French Open over Simona Halep, another young player who is expected to be a major threat in this event and in the years to come.

News For Shoppers will bring you more information, including the TV line up and streaming information as we get close to the event, so check back with us.
