Terminator Review & Tip: Don’t Leave When The Credits Start!

Terminator Genisys is a roller-coaster ride of fast-paced action and time-travel goodness.

If you like chases and shoot-em-up action, you’ll love this fifth Terminator film. It rarely slows down to catch its breath.

The release of the last Terminator film, Terminator Salvation, was six years ago. If you’ve forgotten where we are in the story, don’t worry about it. There is a brief recap as the movie begins.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is back big time in Terminator Genisys. And this isn’t a bit part for the old man – he’s all in!

Oh yeh, the age is showing – it’s been 31 years since Schwarzenegger hit the big screen for the first time as the Terminator. But his aging is handled well and believably. And he’s funny to boot!

Emilia Clarke, who plays Sarah Connor, does about as well as anyone could when it comes to replacing the indomitable Linda Hamilton.

It’s probably not fair to compare the two… Hamilton played Sarah Connor so very well. But there Clarke is, up on the screen, a different Sarah Connor. You just can’t not compare them. Clarke does well though. Not brilliant, but quite good.

The same can be said for Jai Courtney, who plays Kyle Reese, and Jason Clarke, who plays John Connor.

Barring Schwarzenegger, whose character doesn’t require much emoting anyway, all of the actors are very likable in their roles.

The acting is good enough not to distract from the great action and furthering of the Terminator/Skynet story.

That’s what we’re here for anyway. And when it comes to action and storytelling, Terminator Genisys delivers.

If you get to watch Terminator Genisys at an IMAX, you’re in for an extra treat or two.

IMAX theaters will be showing a five-minute preview of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, before the main feature. There will also be a Terminator Genisys interactive game for audiences at a very limited number of IMAX theaters.

Tip: at the end of Terminator Genisys, don’t jump up and leave when the credits begin to roll!

You’ll miss something important if you do…
