TAO WellShell – Portable Fitness Device & App | Coming Soon

TAO-Wellness has recently launched a product called the TAO WellShell that helps consumers work out through the use of isometric exercise.

Isometric exercise is a type of strength training in which one’s muscles push against each other or other resistant objects. The body holds static positions throughout this exercise.

The WellShell made its first public appearance at CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, in January of this year.

The TAO WellShell is a portable, hand-sized device that syncs via Bluetooth with a mobile app to record users’ personal statistics.

The device and accompanying app track exercise routines, heart rate, exerted pressure, burned calories, sleep duration, and more.

The app also provides a food log where users can track their nutrition and compare their food and calorie intake to the metrics recorded on the WellShell. The app will be made available for both iOS and Andriod devices.

The WellShell comes with an internal pressure sensor and heart rate sensor. The device is 3.26 inches wide, 4.38 inches long, and weighs 5.3 ounces.

Neither a price nor a launch date have been officially released for the WellShell, however, Philo Northrup, the president and co-founder of TAO-Wellness, told Mashable that it may be priced between $200 and $300 and is expected to become available in the fall of 2014.
